This is an acute care facility where patients arrive without appointment on their own or with the assistance of others, by ambulance or by MedEvac helicopter.
The Department of Emergency Medicine at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest treats more than 85,000 adult and children annually. The staff consists of board-certified emergency medicine physicians, advanced practice clinicians and trained emergency nurses. In addition, we host one of the largest emergency medicine residencies in the country and provide medical education to medical students from local medical schools and universities.
Our ServicesTrauma care
This facility offers the region's largest Level I Trauma Center for adults, the region's highest level of trauma care for children and the only one in the region that specializes in trauma care for older adults. Patients may arrive by ambulance or one of our four MedEvac helicopters.
Cardiac care
We are an accredited Chest Pain Center that provides rapid care for patients who present with heart attacks.
Stroke care
We are a certified Stroke Center and have developed and implemented a process for delivering thrombolytic care for patients who walk in or come by ambulance as soon as possible.
Urgent care
We have a five-bed express care area designed to treat minor injuries and medical issues in an expedited fashion in less than 90 minutes.
Pediatric care
We have a 12-bed Children’s ER with board-certified pediatric emergency physicians and pediatric emergency nurses.
