Philosophy of care

People who come to an emergency room are scared and anxious. I gain their trust by listening to their story and giving them my complete attention. When I truly understand their story, I can lead them down a path to better health.

Why I entered medicine

My grandfather was an eye and ears, nose and throat physician. When I was a boy, the things I saw in his office, like a model of a skull, piqued my interest. My aunt was an obstetrician/gynecologist. When I was in high school, she would tell me stories about the patients she helped, and it inspired me. I chose emergency medicine because of the variety of conditions and people I get to help. You never know what will happen in an ER. It keeps me on my toes and helps me learn something new every day.

Personal interests

I enjoy fitness and sports. I once played baseball in a semi-professional league. Today, I enjoy tennis, swimming, golf and coaching my kids’ teams. I have three daughters, and my wife is a nurse.
