Chair's Message
Thank you for your interest in continuing your education with a General Practice Residency in Dentistry at Lehigh Valley Health Network. More >>

About the General Practice Residency Programs in Dentistry
Lehigh ValleyHealth Network offers two distinct one-year accredited dental residency programs. These programs are designed to reinforce and expand on the principles learned in a four-year pre-doctoral dental program while the resident delivers advanced comprehensive dental care in the hospital environment. You can apply to both programs via a single application through PASS. However, each program participates separately in the Match and therefore you have the ability to rank each site according to your preference. While all our residents share the didactic portion of our program, all clinical experiences will be at the site you match with. The programs will enable the resident to:

  • Develop confidence in clinical and patient management skills.
  • Become confident and competent in the care of medically compromised patients.
  • Become competent in admitting patients to the hospital and providing care in the operating room setting. Residents are encouraged to maintain hospital privileges after completion of their residency.
  • Perform critical and scientific reviews of the dental and medical literature.
  • Form an attitude of discipline for lifelong continuing education.
  • Deliver comprehensive dental care and gain experience in oral surgery, operative dentistry, preventive dentistry, fixed and removable prosthetics, periodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, implant dentistry and pain and anxiety control.
  • Be familiar with the business skills needed to operate and manage a private dental practice.
