Thank you for your interest in continuing your education with a general practice residency in dentistry at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN).

At the department of dental medicine at LVHN, we desire to offer an educational experience that is second to none, helping you succeed in dentistry. Our one-year, Commission on Dental Accreditation-accredited dental residency program is designed to reinforce and expand on the principles learned in a four-year pre-doctoral dental program while you deliver advanced, comprehensive dental care in the hospital environment. You’ll be mentored by exceptional community dentists who have devoted their careers to helping residents and to giving back to our community.

Offered at two separate locations – Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Muhlenberg in Bethlehem and LVH–17th Street in Allentown – our dental residency enables you to:

  • Develop confidence in clinical and patient management skills.
  • Become confident and competent in the care of medically compromised patients.
  • Become competent in admitting patients to the hospital and providing care in the operating room setting. Residents are encouraged to maintain hospital privileges after completion of the residency.
  • Perform critical and scientific reviews of the dental and medical literature.
  • Form an attitude of discipline for lifelong continuing education.
  • Deliver comprehensive dental care and gain experience in oral surgery, restorative dentistry, preventive dentistry, fixed and removable prosthetics, periodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, implant dentistry and pain and anxiety control.
  • Become familiar with the business skills needed to operate and manage a private dental practice.

It is our mission to help all of our residents launch a successful career and maintain a drive to pursue continuing dental education.

Finally, the support of nationally recognized Lehigh Valley Health Network connects this department to the excellence practiced by everyone in the network.
