Hike safely:
- Allow enough time for daylight for your hike. You don't want to be caught out on a trail in the dark. Bring a flashlight if your hike may extend into the evening.
- Always tell someone where you're going and what time you expect to be home.
- Don't hike alone.
- Bring your cell phone in case of emergencies.
Spending time outdoors can be fun and safe. Planning for such an experience is important. Exploring parks, trails, gardens, rivers and other natural areas in your community is a healthy way to appreciate the world around us.
