As reported by USA TODAY, Lehigh Valley Hospital has the second best heart attack survival rate in the nation according to U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services "Hospital Compare" data. Our health network’s hospitals also are accredited Chest Pain Centers from the Society of Chest Pain Centers. We are among about 400 hospitals in the nation to receive this high level of accreditation. Lehigh Valley Hospital has also been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as "high-performing" in cardiology and heart surgery.
The backbone of our award-winning heart attack care is our fast-action MI Alert for Heart Attacks program, which consistently opens patients’ blocked arteries in 90 minutes or less after hospital arrival (the gold standard for care). This program won both the 2006 patient care and innovation achievement awards from the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP).
