Board of Trustees

Meet our Board of Trustees whose leadership helps us meet our community’s needs

The Lehigh Valley Health Network Board of Trustees provides oversight of management, approves our yearly budget and selects and evaluates the health network's chief executive officer (CEO).

The Board meets seven times a year and holds several committee meetings. Being a trustee is an unpaid volunteer position. Trustees are recruited by the nominating committee and are elected by the entire Board for three-year terms. The Board includes our president and CEO, and the president, past president and president-elect of the Lehigh Valley Hospital medical staff. Although no age minimum exists, trustees may not be elected past 75 years of age.

Twenty trustees serve on our Board. They are community leaders with experience in large organizations and expert knowledge in areas such as higher education, business, technology, finance, human resources, medical science and government affairs. The majority of our trustees live in the Lehigh Valley and also volunteer their time and talents with other community organizations.

The Board’s work is dependent on the work of its committees: the Finance Committee, Nominating and Governance Committee, Community Relations Committee, Compensation and Development Committee, Development Committee, Lehigh Valley Health Network Pool Trust Liaison Committee, and Audit Committee.

Learn more about our trustees and their roles in making our community strong.

During my career as a pastor, I have visited people in more than 50 different hospitals. Many of them were academic, university-based hospitals that are frequently mentioned as being among the nation’s best. I have observed firsthand why there is a great difference in hospitals. Lehigh Valley Health Network ranks with the very best, especially as far as quality care is concerned. The health network’s staff works very diligently to ensure every patient who comes through the door receives the same high level of care. In fact, Lehigh Valley Health Network has successfully treated patients with complex cases that have been turned away by some of the nation’s top hospitals. This commitment to excellence inspires me to serve on its Board of Trustees.”
