The Art of Healing
Our original artwork collection provides comfort to patients
To create a warm welcome and promote healing, Lehigh Valley Health Network collects and exhibits contemporary art with a focus on regional artists. Our permanent collection, displayed throughout our health network, features original paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, sculpture, glass and textiles. The collection, which includes some 400 works (a number of them gifts), was begun more than 25 years ago.
The display of art in health care settings is proven to create a healing, lower-stress environment. Research has shown the rate of healing and morale of hospital colleagues increase dramatically with the display of suitably themed art. Our health network is among dozens of hospitals nationwide that acquire and display art to benefit patients and caregivers.

We've chosen a sampling of the works you'll find at our health network's three hospital campuses.
We would be delighted to speak with you about donations of art or funding in support of our arts programming. Please contact Dr. Christine I. Oaklander, arts coordinator, at Christine.Oaklander@lvh.com or 610-402-8749.
