Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN)’s pharmacy residency program will equip you with the clinical and professional skills needed to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services in a patient-focused health care setting.
PGY-1 program purpose:
PGY-1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY-2) pharmacy residency training.
LVHN PGY-1 residency program description:
Prepares pharmacists for clinical or teaching positions, or for PGY-2 training in a community hospital setting.
The LVHN PGY-1 pharmacy residency program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The 12-month (52-week) program provides well-rounded training experience, offering you the opportunity to further develop clinical and leadership skills, and explore the many facets of hospital pharmacy practice. The program is flexible, ensuring your areas of interest are incorporated into your experience.
Following completion of PGY-1 training at LVHN, our residents have continued on to clinical positions, and many have continued their careers right here at LVHN. In addition, numerous residents have pursued PGY-2 training in specialties such as ambulatory care, critical care, HIV, oncology and pediatrics and, after successful completion of these programs, have accepted clinical specialist positions. Past residents also hold adjunct faculty positions at schools of pharmacy, medical schools and universities.
