The Dangers of Caffeine-Laced Alcoholic Beverages
Recently in Washington state, nine college freshman ended up in the hospital with near-lethal blood alcohol levels after drinking caffeinated malt-liquor beverages at a party. Now, 18 state attorneys general are pressuring the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to look into the caffeine laced Alcoholic Beverages. Even Pennsylvania's Liquor Control Board has asked distributors to take these types of drinks off the shelves until the FDA concludes its investigation. Lehigh Valley Health Network's emergency medicine physician Alex Rosenau, D.O., explains why these drinks are so dangerous.
