Schuylkill County lies in the heart of the anthracite coal region of Eastern Pennsylvania. The county includes the city of Pottsville and dozens of smaller towns and boroughs and is home to 150,000 residents. In Pottsville, you’ll find Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill.

Entertainment
There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy arts and entertainment in Schuylkill County. The Majestic Theater, located in Pottsville, hosts more than 50 events each year including live music, movies, stage productions, children’s shows and more. The Gabriel Chamber Ensemble has a 30-year history of performing chamber music masterpieces in Schuylkill County. The
Schuylkill County Council for the Arts, housed in the former Yuengling Mansion, offers guided tours and year-round events. For art enthusiasts, the Walk In Art Center in Schuylkill Haven houses 16 individual creative studios for working artists and is open to the community for classes, workshops, art camps and informal discussions.
Now open to the public, Muhammad Ali’s former training camp now known as “Fighter’s Heaven” is located in Deer Lake, just south of Pottsville.
Penn’s Peak, the Lehigh Valley and Pocono Mountains premier entertainment venue, is located nearby in Jim Thorpe. The entertainment venue overlooks Beltzville Lake and hosts weddings, special events and concerts throughout the year.
Pottsville is home to America’s oldest brewery. The Yuengling Brewery was established in 1829. The brewery is a National Historic Landmark and is open for tours and tastings.

Schuylkill County is home to three state parks, seven campgrounds and Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. At Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, you can enjoy a fall hawk watch, scenic vistas and hiking trails. With arts and entertainment, outdoor recreation and parades and festivals, there are opportunities to explore all of your interests in Schuylkill County.
