About Dr. Sukhadia
Philosophy of care
Good health results from a beautiful interplay between biology (our genes) and the environment (our caregivers, family, friends and teachers). Disease can be thought of as a similar interplay, but where something has not quite gone right. Developmental behavioral pediatrics seeks to identify and address the contributing factors and return the child to a normal developmental trajectory. By addressing both biology (nature) and environment (nurture), developmental behavioral pediatrics provides holistic care.
Why I entered medicine
I entered medicine with an intention to specialize in pediatrics, because in the young there is always hope for better health. I saw this growing up when I visited the offices of both my parents, who practiced pediatrics in New York. I also see it now in my own practice. It is a joy to see children develop and grow. By keeping abreast of scientific literature and by sharing the advances in treatment with compassion, pediatricians offer families hope with tangible next steps.
Community involvement
I help children in India receive a modern education and support activities that keep them rooted in their traditional culture. The children grow with a strong sense of self and later contribute back to their community.
Personal interests
I am learning Indian classical Carnatic music and Sanskrit. I enjoy classical Indian dance and Gujarati folk dance. I also practice yoga and meditation.
