About

Philosophy of care

Pregnancy, childbirth and age all change a woman’s body physically and often emotionally. Such changes can affect body image, negatively impact intimacy, and lead to pain or discomfort. Not every woman is comfortable talking about these problems, and many don’t realize bladder and pelvic floor concerns can be treated. My main goal is to provide high-quality, compassionate care and listen carefully to you with respect. My field goes beyond the disease process to understand and resolve a problem from the woman’s point of view.

Why I entered medicine

I come from a family with a long history in surgery. Growing up, I was always in the shadow of my grandfather, aunt and father. I always wanted to follow in their footsteps and make an impact on people’s lives. I graduated medical school in my home country of Georgia, and worked as a general surgeon in St. Petersburg, Russia. After moving to the U.S., I completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology, and soon was astounded to see how many patients in my practice had pelvic floor and bladder control problems. It sparked my career in urogynecology.

Community involvement

I have taken medical missions to Ghana and Jamaica, providing surgical and gynecological care and raising awareness through education of female issues.

Personal interests

I enjoy free time with my family. We travel and never miss art shows and exhibits. My husband and I love to cook and host dinner parties with friends. I also love to paint and am learning Spanish. Over the last two years, I’ve become an avid Peloton fan.
