Visitation at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono

Visiting Hours

In general, Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono visiting hours are 24 hours a day. However, some departments have more specific times and guidelines for visiting hours. Refer to the list below to learn about special visiting hours.

Behavioral Health (6th Floor)

  • Monday through Friday: 7:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sunday, Holidays: 2:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.
  • Children under age 12 may visit only by special arrangement in advance with the Director, and must be accompanied by an adult
  • Maximum two visitors at a time
  • Immediate family members only are permitted to visit
  • All visitors must announce themselves at the intercom station outside the unit to gain admittance
  • Special visitors may be allowed upon request
  • Please note: all bags will be checked

Critical Care Areas (ICU, CCU) (2nd Floor)

  • Two visitors at a time
  • Generally, children under 12 are not permitted
  • Children 12 and older may visit by making special arrangements with the Patient Care Coordinator or the Charge Nurse
  • All visitors must announce themselves through the phone outside the unit to gain admittance

Maternity (2nd Floor)

  • Family and Friends (ages 12 and over): 12:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Siblings (accompanied by an adult): 12:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Four visitors are permitted for each patient at one time.
  • All children must be accompanied by an adult (other than mom) at all times. We suggest these visits be limited to 1–2 hours at a time since children often get tired during long visits. If your child is sick, it is best not to bring them into the hospital in order to protect newborns from becoming ill.

Obstetrics and Gynecology (2nd Floor)

  • Family and Friends (age 12 and over): 12:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Children of Gynecology Patients may visit during “Family and Friends” visiting hours when accompanied by an adult

Pediatrics (4th Floor)

  • Siblings under age 2 are not permitted for infection prevention purposes.
  • Siblings ages 2-12 may visit only by special arrangement with the Nurse Manager or the Charge Nurse. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times
  • All visitors over age 12 may visit from 10 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • One parent or guardian is encouraged to stay overnight. Arrangements for one parent or guardian only may be made with the Pediatric Nursing Staff
  • No visitors under age 12 are permitted unless they are siblings of the patient
  • All visitors must announce themselves at the intercom station outside the unit to gain admittance

Same Day Surgery (SDS) / Short Procedure Unit (SPU) (2nd Floor)

  • Family and Friends: 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. daily
  • Young children are not recommended for waiting area but welcome to come to pick up the patient to take them home
  • Two visitors maximum are permitted to wait for the patient during surgery. Additional visitors are welcome to wait in the hospital’s main lobby

To send mail to a patient, please mark "Patient" after the person's name, allowing us to sort the mail and quickly make the delivery. Please note: we may not be able to make a delivery to a patient in time if they are admitted to the hospital for only a short time. If you know a floor and room number, please add it, but it is not necessary.

If you would like to send a gift or flowers by personal delivery, ask for delivery to the front desk of Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono, entrance "A" of hospital, at 206 East Brown Street.

LVH–Pocono Gift Shop
The Gift Shop is conveniently located next to the main lobby of the hospital. Phone orders are welcome and gift baskets can be made to order. Select from fresh flowers, cards, non-latex balloons, magazines, books, stuffed animals and more. 570-421-4000 ext. 4438

  • Monday through Friday: 9:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 12:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.

Calling a Patient

Each of the patient rooms has a direct extension telephone number. To contact a patient using the four-digit telephone extension number, contact the main switchboard at 570-421-4000 and select #3. After the answering system connects and you hear the message, then input the four-digit extension number to call the room directly.

If you don't know the four-digit extension number, you can obtain it by calling the Patient Room and Information line at 570-476-3367 from 9:00am to 8:30pm. The volunteer operators at this desk will provide the extension telephone number for you to use in the future, and will connect you to the room. At other times, you can call the main switchboard for a room extension number.

In order for our patients to get the rest they need, patient telephones are turned off at night at the following times:

9:00pm - Maternity and Pediatrics
10:00pm - All other floors
7:00am - Telephone service resumes again

If you have a minor illness, you can walk into an ExpressCare or schedule a video visit. For allergies, ear infections, cold and flu symptoms, rash and sprains.
