Studies have shown that people with hemophilia who receive comprehensive treatment through a hemophilia treatment center (HTC) are 40 percent less likely to die from this bleeding disorder.

If you have hemophilia (Factor VIII or IX deficiency) or a related bleeding condition such as Factor XI deficiency, von Willebrand disease (VWD), other factor deficiencies or a defect in platelet function, you may benefit from the comprehensive, multidisciplinary, family-centered approach to hemophilia care at the Hemophilia Treatment Center at Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH).

The Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) at Lehigh Valley Hospital is part of a network of more than 140 HTCs in the United States that offer comprehensive hemophilia care and care for other bleeding conditions, for children and adults. HTCs also help patients and their families connect with hematologists, genetic counselors, physical therapists, social workers and nurses – all who specialize in caring for people with bleeding disorders. 

The HTC at LVH is a federally funded center and is part of the regional network that includes centers from across the U.S. HTCs follow the comprehensive care model that includes:

  • Diagnostic testing
  • Multidisciplinary care team
  • Comprehensive evaluation
  • Prevention-focused care
  • Coordination with providers within and outside the network
  • Patient education
  • Outreach to underserved populations
