About

Philosophy of care

I approach patients not only with compassion but a listening ear. We have a relatively short period of time together, so I listen to the patient’s complaints, observe carefully and pay attention to details. It’s important for patients to have a chance to express all their concerns before I jump in and say what I think is going on. Whatever the symptoms may be, I try to identify the root cause and develop a comprehensive, holistic approach to eradicating the underlying problem so the person can feel better in the long run.

Why I entered medicine

I was always fascinated when I went to see doctors, and I wanted to help people who were sick. I like to meet people, talk about their problems and find ways to solve them. Because of those interests, I became one of the first in my family to enter medicine, receiving my training initially in India and later in the United Kingdom. Then I spent about 18 years in Philadelphia before moving to the Lehigh Valley.

Community involvement

I’m relatively new to the area and am still exploring, but one of my long-term goals is to provide service to an international organization that places doctors where they are most needed around the world. I also enjoy teaching children about Hindu philosophy and culture at my temple.

Personal interests

I enjoy gardening, mainly with flowering plants and vegetables, and traveling. I’ve been to various European countries such as France and Spain, as well as places like Cambodia, Vietnam and the Caribbean. I also like to read, especially nonfiction.
