Options for Uninsured and Underinsured

At Lehigh Valley Health Network, we’ve made a promise to care for all people regardless of their ability to pay. It’s so important to us, it’s stated in our mission statement. We never want you to ignore your health care needs because you can’t afford to pay for medical expenses. Come to us. We’ll provide the care you need.  If you have no health insurance, or if your insurance plan only partially covers your medical expenses, we can help.

If you are uninsured

As part of the Affordable Care Act, all Americans must have health care coverage or pay a penalty. By having health insurance, you will be able to feel better, live healthier and connect with doctors and other health care providers when needed. The federal government is making it easier for you to get health insurance. You can use something called an insurance exchange. It’s a federally run shopping website where you can buy health care coverage that meets Health Care Reform requirements. You can learn more about the exchanges at Healthcare.gov.

At LVHN you will get the care you need in our hospitals and from doctors who are members of Lehigh Valley Physician Group. During your visit, simply tell us that you are uninsured. We’ll connect you with one of our financial counselors. First, your counselor will help you apply for medical assistance from the state. If you don’t qualify, your counselor will help you apply for our financial assistance program. View the program policies. You’ll be asked to provide proof of your household income and the number of people living in your household. The amount your bill will be reduced depends on where you fall within the following scale.
