Imagine you or a loved one has sustained a serious burn and the emergency room or urgent care facility you go to isn’t sure if you need transport to a regional burn center. By connecting to the LVHN TeleBurn program, you will get a rapid answer.
Utilizing a secure mobile, handheld app, images are transferred securely to an LVHN physician or APC with burn expertise to review and confer with your emergency provider to decide if you can receive the right care there or if you need to come to LVHN’s Regional Burn Center. This program reduces costs, improves patient safety, enhances the quality of care provided and increases access to care.
- More than 100 sites in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Delaware participate with TeleBurn.
- More than 6,000 patients have been assessed through the program since it launched in 2008.
- Approximately 20 percent of all TeleBurn patients are able to remain at their local facility for treatment. More complicated burns are transferred for either inpatient or outpatient burn specialty care in our American Burn Association and American College of Surgeons (ABA and ACS) Verified Regional Burn Center.
