TeleInterpreter services

To avoid having language as a barrier to care, LVHN launched a pilot program in 2008 to connect deaf and hard-of-hearing patients with sign language interpreters. At the beginning, the service connected patients and interpreters using high-definition videoconferencing systems but switched to iPads® in 2012. This program has improved communication with this population of patients, especially in emergency situations when time is of the essence.
