Clinical Trial: Cancer, Leukemia and Lymphoma

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia classification

Full Name

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (AALL08B1): Classification of newly diagnosed acute lymphoblastic leukemia (2_PRO00000494 - CIRB)

Participants with suspected leukemia will undergo a bone marrow aspirate or biopsy procedure to remove about 3 to 4 teaspoons of bone marrow, which will be analyzed to establish the diagnosis of ALL, as well as sent to the Childrens Oncology Group tissue bank for research. Blood and bone marrow samples will be used to classify participants with the disease into low, standard, high and very high risk categories. Induction treatment will be initiated based upon risk assessment. Days 8 and 29 of induction will involve testing of peripheral blood and bone marrow, respectively, to determine minimal residual disease.
