Ovary-Sex Cord Tumor (GOG-0264): A randomized phase II trial of paclitaxel and carboplatin vs. bleomycin, etoposide, and cisplatin for newly diagnosed advanced stage and recurrent chemonaive sex cord-stromal tumors of the ovary (1_PRO00000388)


This study is for patients with Sex cord-stromal tumors of the ovary. Participants will be divided into two groups. Treatment arms will depend on whether or not the participant has measurable disease. Participants enrolled in the experimental group will have treatment on day one. This treatment will repeat every 21 days for 6 courses or until unacceptable side effects or disease progression. The second group will be considered the control group. Their treatment will begin on day one and go through day five. These treatments will repeat every 21 days for 4 courses or until unacceptable side effects or disease progression.


Inclusion Criteria

o Must have the appropriate histological confirmed type tumor
o Must have newly diagnosed Stage IIA - IV disease and be entered within 8 weeks of surgery; or
o Biopsy proven recurrent disease of any stage and never received chemotherapy
o Must have appropriate performance grades
o Must have appropriate organ function
