Last year, we helped our patients lose more than 10,000 lbs. In the past decade, more than 5,000 patients have trusted LVHN’s Weight Management Center for their surgery. We are the most experienced program in the region with the most advanced laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgical techniques. Are you ready to take the next step?

What are the benefits of weight-loss surgery?

It’s about more than appearances. Weight-loss is about living healthier, longer and better. Weight-loss surgery can improve or resolve* conditions like:

  • Type 2 diabetes (most patients are off medication before leaving the hospital.)
  • High blood pressure
  • Obstructive sleep apnea
  • High cholesterol
  • Metabolic effects of excess weight

*Each person’s journey is unique. Results may vary from person to person.

About you

You must meet certain qualifications in order to be a weight-loss surgery candidate:

  • Are you 16 years of age or older?
  • Is your body mass index (BMI) 40 or above?
  • If your BMI is between 35 and 40, you may be a candidate for surgery if you have a serious health condition like high blood pressure, diabetes or obstructive sleep apnea.

You can ask our surgeons and nurse navigator about BMI and other qualifications for surgery at an upcoming free info event.

How much does weight-loss surgery cost?

LVHN accepts most insurance plans. Your insurance also determines the length of your pre-surgery education program. Learn specific questions to ask your insurer when you attend a free info event.

Which weight-loss surgeries are offered at LVHN?

Our metabolic procedures include sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass. You will hear the terms, “restriction” and “malabsorption” used to describe weight-loss surgery. Restriction means the size of the stomach is reduced. Malabsorption occurs when nutrients and calories are limited. Learn details about each procedure and feel free to ask questions at our next free information event.
