Earlier this week, Monroe County resident Steven Abdo said goodbye to coronavirus (COVID-19), but not without first bidding farewell to 100-plus members of the LVH–Pocono medical staff. Many of these health care professionals provided care that saved Abdo’s life.
LVH–Pocono colleagues lined the hallways and exit of the hospital, waving, cheering, holding balloons and singing celebratory music as Abdo made his way toward the hospital lobby, where he was greeted with open arms by his wife Stella.
Once outside, the father of two children thanked the hospital staff for their support and well wishes. “This welcome is beyond words. It brought tears to my eyes, heart and soul,” Abdo said. “Everyone you see behind me are the true unsung heroes. They are like family, and deserve all the thanks and the credit in the world. For them and the grace of God is why I am standing here.” Watch this heartfelt moment on video.
