OACIS/Palliative Medicine is Lehigh Valley Health Network’s inpatient consult service, providing on-site care to patients at our Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Cedar Crest and LVH–Muhlenberg locations and telemedicine to patients at LVH–17th Street Transitional Skilled Unit (TSU), LVH–Hazleton, LVH–Schuylkill, LVH–Pocono, LVH–Hecktown Oaks, LVH–Carbon and LVH–Dickson City.

Our interdisciplinary team of physicians, certified registered nurse practitioners and support professionals is available to collaborate with your hospital care team and can help:

  • Gain an understanding of the patient’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs
  • Learn about the patient’s goals and treatment preference
  • Discuss illness/symptoms and available treatment options
  • Advance care planning
  • Foster communication with family and members of the care team to support patient wishes
  • Manage difficult symptoms
  • Conduct family meetings and provide support to patients and families

Patients and family members may request a consult from the hospital care team.
