Welcome! I am Nyann Biery, Senior Research and Evaluation Specialist. I have been with the department of family medicine since 2006. I earned my master’s degree in epidemiology from University of California, Davis. During my tenure at Davis, I worked in the California Department of Health Care Services, Office of AIDS, Prevention, Research and Evaluation, which gave me a unique insight into working with communities, the people who make up those communities and the health care industry that serves them. As a lifelong learner, I went back to school and in 2024 received my doctoral degree in health sciences with a concentration on advanced research administration.

I have been a member of the Family Medicine Residency for more than 10 years and the Geriatrics Fellowship since its inception in 2018. My goal in teaching is to allow learners to be able to focus their attention on the research that could better enhance their patient interactions, practice-based interventions, evidence-based practice and the overall patient experience. Emphasizing the journey along the process of research allows future doctors a way to support and evaluate new ideas that they wish to implement. By getting to know the residents and fellows, I hope to instill both the passion for my focus on patient-centered health care and the knowledge and ability to use research to evaluate the information in front of them. This will ultimately affect the outcome of the community we serve and the greater health care system.

In addition to my role as faculty, I have had the opportunity to work on numerous projects alongside various departments within the hospital and organizations within the community. My passion has led me to be a part of the writing and funding of multiple grants related to community outreach, patient experience and health-specific enhancements in areas including diabetes, mental health, narcotic abuse and geriatrics. These grants have helped to bring solid health care, at a level that creates equality for all, to the Greater Lehigh Valley.

When I am not working, I like to spend time outside with my husband, two children and fur babies. I’m a Disney fan and look forward to our family vacations.
