I’m Stephen Evans, DO.  I practice both family medicine and primary care sports medicine in Pottsville. I also serve as the assistant medical director for the family medicine providers for Schuylkill County.

I have always been more interested in knowing the patient, getting the whole story and putting the pieces of the puzzle together. I find it serves the patients better, and they are certainly appreciative.

I grew up in a rural part of Pennsylvania like Schuylkill County. I attended University of Scranton and then medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  After residency and fellowship in New Jersey, my wife and I moved back to Pennsylvania. We chose Pennsylvania because it was a good place to raise a family, get away from the traffic and be with the friendly environment of a small town. Our two children thrive in the environment.

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time with my family at their sporting events. I also work on my growing automotive collection. I try to incorporate my kids with what I am doing to instill some of the same values my parents gave me. My children help in the garage, in the yard and on the house. Making it fun and educational for them keeps them involved. I try to do the same when teaching residents.

I chose Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) because the leaders of LVHN and my departments all share the ideals that patient care should come first.
