Virtual Inpatient Check In, Check Out (VICC)
The goal of Virtual Inpatient Check In, Check Out, or VICC for short, is to help surgical patients who are ready to go home have a quicker check-out assessment by their surgeon.
Patients who are recovering well following surgery may be selected for VICC. This means they will have a remote video visit with their surgeon when the surgeon will determine if the patient is ready to go home.
Often, patients must wait for their surgeon to round at the end of the day for that assessment and discharge. By allowing surgeons the opportunity to connect with patients between surgical cases using a secure video connection, the surgeon can assess the patient remotely and determine if they are ready to go home.
