In December 2012, LVHN launched a program called BabyCam in the NICU. BabyCam allows parents and other parent-approved individuals to view the baby through a secure internet connection. A web camera is placed above the infant’s bassinette and provides family members a bird’s-eye view of the baby at any time of day. As family members learn care routines, they can enjoy seeing the baby and feel more connected even when they are unable to be physically present. BabyCam is provided at the NICUs at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest and Lehigh Valley Hospital–Muhlenberg.

NICU nurse Jane Nemeth, BSN, and a NICU family talk about the impact of the BabyCam service that’s available to families of NICU patients any time of the day or night.
