Pocono CHNA 2017

Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) data collection and analysis process for Monroe County in the Poconos was facilitated by a Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono Steering Committee and East Stroudsburg University's Institute of Public Health, Research and Innovation.

Pocono CHNA 2017: Improvements from 2015 to 2017

Compared with the 2014 CHNA report, residents of the Poconos are living longer with better medical management of diabetes than state and national averages.

In addition fewer adults in Monroe County (compared to the rest of Pennsylvania and the nation) have:

  • High blood pressure
  • Asthma
  • Heart disease

Areas to improve:

  • Quality of life
  • Improve lung cancer screening
  • Improve breast cancer screening (mammograms)
  • Improve access to primary care
  • Improve care coordination for behavioral health and alcohol and substance abuse.
