Cafés and Gift Shops


You don’t have to leave the hospital if you get hungry. The following options are available:

Visit our cafeteria in the Pool Pavilion for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Enjoy home-style foods, soups, salads, deli items and freshly baked desserts, along with a range of ethnic selections. Takeout items are available throughout the day.

  • Monday through Friday: 1:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Coffee cart
Located in the Jaindl Family Pavilion, stop by for a hot cup of coffee and a baked good to go.

Coffee Shop Café
Stop by for breakfast and lunch in the remodeled area at the top of the Jaindl Family Pavilion steps, next to the Cancer Center. The café is now offering made-to-order sandwiches, salads and paninis as well as soup, coffee and bottled beverages.

At-your-request dining service
From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., patients and visitors can order from a restaurant-style menu from the comfort of their room. Patients’ dietary restrictions will be taken into account when the meal is ordered and prepared. To place an order, call 610-402-3663 (FOOD). Your meal will arrive within 60 minutes. 

Gift shops

Gifts, snacks, newspapers, cards, flower and plants are available in our three gift shops. Patients may order magazines, newspapers and other gift shop items by calling patient room service at 610-402-8822.

Parking and Valet Information

Valet parking service
Free valet parking is available 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at the main hospital entrance.

Free valet parking is available 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the entrance to the Children’s Specialty Center 1210 S. Cedar Crest Blvd. and the Cancer Center 1240 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., as they share the same drive.

Free Valet parking also is available 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Center for Advanced Health Care, 1250 S. Cedar Crest Blvd.

*Please note – Valet service is closed New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day

Parking information
Patients and visitors can park for free in any of the three parking decks on campus. Two two-story decks are located in the front of the hospital near its main entrance. The third is a five-story deck near the Center for Advanced Health Care, 1250 S. Cedar Crest Blvd.

Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, located at Interstate 78 and Cedar Crest Boulevard in Allentown, Pa., provides you and your family with the highest level of care.

If you have trouble walking, we’ll take you where you need to go. An indoor patient shuttle is available on the first floor 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. A patient shuttle is also available on the second floor Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.:

  • From the main entrance into the Jaindl Pavilion and back
  • From the main entrance into the Kasych Pavilion and back
  • From the Cancer Center atrium into the Jaindl Pavilion and back

If you have questions or need help finding your way, stop by one of three information desks in the hospital:

  • Main entrance lobby (Pool Pavilion) – staffed 24/7
  • Cancer Center lobby – staffed 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

We’ll give you clear directions to your destination, and if you’re a visitor, we’ll provide your loved one’s room number and how to get there. If you get lost along the way, ask any employee for help.


Hackerman-Patz House

The Hackerman-Patz House at LVH–Cedar Crest is a convenient and affordable "home away from home" that offers you an alternative to an expensive hotel or daily trips to and from your distant home. Whether your loved one is a patient or you’re receiving care yourself, our goal remains the same: to offer you comfortable accommodations and a supportive environment that allows you to focus on healing.

Our house is located at 1260 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown, Pa. 18105. We are on the campus of LVH—Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township, directly off I-78 (Route 309) at Exit 55 (Cedar Crest Boulevard). You'll find us at the rear (south side) of the campus, on a wooded lot across from the hospital's emergency room.

We are a member of the Healthcare Hospitality Network (HHN), a nationwide network of more than 200 not-for-profit, family lodging facilities that offer warm, caring support to more than a quarter of a million people each year.

House features

Everything in our house is designed to help make a stressful time in your life a little easier. And because you’ll be staying with other families facing similar circumstances, you’ll quickly discover you are not alone.

We are located in a quiet, wooded area adjacent to the hospital, with a walking path and several pieces of contemporary outdoor art just steps away. Our location puts us close to a variety of convenient dining and shopping options, as well as services such as dry cleaners, banks and gas stations.

Front desk hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

House amenities include:

  • 20 smoke-free, private rooms (rooms have either one full bed or two twin beds), including eight ADA rooms on the first floor
  • All rooms include private bath, safe, TV and mini-fridge
  • Kitchenette (Keurig coffee makers, microwaves, refrigerators and vending machine)

  • Great Room for relaxing and meeting other guests
  • Children’s playroom
  • Library

  • Use of hospital’s LVHN Fitness facility

Reservations and rates

Because many families wish to stay with us, our occupancy limit is two adults and two children per room or 3 adults. We can offer additional rooms per family based on availability.

Our check-in hours are from 1:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. However, for your convenience, we are able to offer after-hours check-ins from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. at the main entrance welcome desk at LVH–Cedar Crest. Our nightly rate is $45 per room. We accept major credit or debit cards and are proud to offer a military and veteran discount of $10 off per night. If we do not have a room available, you have options:

  • You can request to be on our waiting list.
  • You may contact a nearby hospitality house, Jenn’s House, which has a location in Emmaus (610-965-1777).
  • You can stay at one of the nearby hotels that offer discounts to our patients and families.

Our benefactors

Our house was made possible through the generosity of Willard and Lillian Patz Hackerman and their families. The Hackermans established the first Hackerman-Patz family lodging facility in 1986 – at Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins Hospital – so families could spend less time traveling and more time visiting their hospitalized loved ones. They later established several similar lodging facilities at other locations in the Baltimore area.

As president and CEO of Baltimore’s Whiting-Turner Contracting – which has managed several LVHN construction projects – Willard came to admire the health network’s mission and staff. He was so impressed, he and Lillian chose LVH–Cedar Crest to be the site of the first Hackerman-Patz house outside of Maryland.

“It’s our pleasure to do this because I happen to love LVHN," Hackerman says. "We know the families who stay at the house will get all the support they need because this is the warmest, most welcoming hospital I’ve ever seen. It truly is unique."

Pastoral Care

Many people connect spirituality to religion, but they are not the same thing. With spirituality, you can gain strength through difficult times and connect with others. Connecting spirituality with your health can be very beneficial.

At LVHN, we offer spiritual support and guidance if you need it through our pastoral care department. A chaplain can help you and your family identify the sources of your fears and find strength through your faith, other meaningful value systems or spiritual resources from the community.

You may want to call pastoral care when:

  • You’re anxious or fearful of surgery, therapy or medical procedures.
  • You need comfort.
  • You don’t respond to medical treatment.
  • You or your family has major health care and treatment decisions to make.
  • Your way of life must change following an illness.
  • You have a long-term illness.
  • You or your loved one is dying.
  • You or a loved one is admitted in a traumatic or emergency situation.
  • Your loved one has died.
  • It’s time for you or your family to consider organ or tissue donation.

If you are at one of our Lehigh Valley-area facilities and would like to speak with a chaplain, please call the paging operator at 610-402-8999 and ask for the chaplain on call. You also can ask your nurse to page us.

Chapels and spiritual services

We offer a quiet place to meditate or pray at each of our hospitals. Chapels also may be used for worship services or small group gatherings. You may add people to the prayer list kept in the prayer book at each chapel.

Our worship services

  • Catholic masses take place in the chapel at LVH–Cedar Crest at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and holy days.
  • Nondenominational memorial services take place on the third Monday every other month. Family members and caregivers of patients who have died are welcome to attend this service.
  • Services for spiritual renewal and special occasions are available upon request.

To send a personalized card to a loved one staying at an LVHN hospital, please fill out our form, and your message will be printed onto the card you have chosen. It will be personally delivered to your friend or family member in their room.

Delivery Schedule – Subject to Volunteer Availability

Monday through Friday: Messages received by 2 p.m. EST will be delivered the same day. Messages received after 2 p.m. will be delivered the next day.

Friday evening and weekends: Any messages received after 2 p.m. on Friday or throughout the weekend will be delivered on Monday, if the patient is still in the hospital.

  • If a message is undeliverable or received after patient’s discharge, the message will be shredded or discarded.
  • This service is not secure; please do not e-mail confidential personal or financial information.
  • To ensure patient privacy, your message will be delivered in accordance with the patient confidentiality guidelines of LVHN.

Send Flowers

If you would like to send flowers or balloons to a loved one at an LVHN hospital, one of our gift shop volunteers will gladly take your order over the phone. They can assist you with choosing the perfect arrangement and have it delivered to the patient's room. Our flowers range from $20 -$40 and are delivered fresh daily.
