Services

We provide a variety of services utilizing the latest equipment, along with the best trained personnel available.

We have more than 100 full- and part-time employees as well as the largest fleet of ambulances and stretcher/wheelchair vans in the area.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Basic Life Support is the practice by which an ambulance is staffed by either an Emergency Medical Responder and an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic or two Emergency Medical Technician-Basic staff. As Basic Life Support providers, these personnel practice bandaging of wounds, splinting of fractures and maintenance of airways and also provide CPR and defibrillation with the use of automated external defibrillators, administer oxygen, monitor SPO2 saturation, aid in childbirth when necessary and assist patients with state-approved medications. At LVHN–EMS Hazleton we are the primary Basic Life Support provider for the City of Hazleton, Hazle Township, West Hazleton, Beaver Meadows and the Villages of Sheppton/Oneida as well as most area personal care homes and nursing facilities. In addition, we provide backup service to McAdoo, Freeland, Butler Township and other area communities. Our Emergency Medical Technicians are available 24 hours a day to meet the medical needs of the community.

Advanced Life Support (ALS)

Advanced Life Support is the practice by which an ambulance is staffed with either an Emergency Medical Technician Basic and Paramedic or two Emergency Medical Technician Paramedics. As Advanced Life Support providers, these personnel practice treating traumatic injuries and myocardial infarctions with the aid of medications, administer intravenous therapy for fluids and medications, provide 12 lead EKGs in the field and send results directly to hospital prior to arrival, participate in the pre-hospital stroke alert program with Lehigh Valley Health Network and various additional skills outlined in the ALS Protocols and Scope of Practice with the Pennsylvania Department of Health. At LVHN–EMS Hazleton, we are the primary ALS Provider for the City of Hazleton, Hazle Township, Beaver Meadows, Villages of Sheppton/Oneida, McAdoo, West Hazleton, Weatherly, Freeland, Kline Township, Ryan Township, Rush Township and Dennison Township, as well as most other municipalities and nursing facilities in Greater Hazleton. We provide both Emergent and Non-Emergent ALS service to the residents of the Hazleton Area. Our paramedics are on duty 24 hours a day to provide the best patient care available.

Intra-Facility Ambulance Transfers

Intra-facility transports are often required due to the patient’s current medical status and requested by a physician at our local hospitals. These transports are necessary when the patient requires further care or treatment not available at a local hospital. There are also circumstances when these transports are requested by either the patient themselves or the family due to either patient history with the receiving facility, such as patient’s insurance provider or family doctor location, or to move a patient closer to loved ones.

Non-emergency Stretcher/Wheelchair Transfers

LVHN–EMS Hazleton provides non-emergency stretcher/wheelchair service for area residents who need transportation home from the hospital or to a doctor’s appointment. Because these transports are not covered by your health insurance, the cost is the responsibility of the patient. Arrangements can be made by visiting the Schedule a Pickup page or by calling us.

We also provide these services for many area nursing home and personal care home facilities. If you are interested in having LVHN–EMS Hazleton as your contracted provider for your residents, please contact either via phone or by email. We would be happy to provide you with rates and meet with you in person.

Long Distance Transfers

We want to ensure your loved one can be close to home and family or get to the medical professionals who will care for them in their time of need. This sometimes requires transports over a long distance or even across the state or country. At LVHN–EMS Hazleton, we are able and willing to meet those transportation needs of our patients in a professional and cost-effective manner. Please contact us to learn more.

Discharge Services

As the leading providers of medical transportation in Greater Hazleton and surrounding areas, we are honored to have agreements with our area hospitals and nursing facilities to provide both ambulance and non-emergency stretcher/wheelchair service when patients are ready to leave the hospital and return home. Staffed 24/7/365, we are always available when you need us.

Special Events

Our community and our neighbors are important to us. We are happy to offer ambulance service for your special events. To arrange for us to help you insure your event is covered with medical personnel, contact us either via phone or by email.
