What is the waiver program in Pennsylvania?
The Office of Developmental Programs offers several Medicaid waivers for people with intellectual disabilities, autism or developmental disabilities. These waivers help people live more independently in their homes and communities.
How do I apply?
Each county may be different, so you’ll want to connect with your local County mental health or intellectual disabilities (MH/ID) office.
What are community-based programs?
These programs aim to help people enjoy the community with support for daily living, vocational opportunities and social interaction.
What is a support coordinator?
This is a professional who helps people connect with services and supports their need to achieve personalized goals and live as independently as possible.
What is the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR)?
The OVR is a state agency within the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry that provides vocational rehabilitation services to people with disabilities. It helps prepare for, obtain or maintain employment.

Your local Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is the front door for aging services in your community. Your AAA is staffed with skilled workers who can provide information about services and help you get access to those services. Pennsylvania has 52 Area Agencies on Aging that cover all 67 counties.
