Doctors’ Day is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to help your child learn more about the important role doctors play in our lives and our community. Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is offering a free downloadable coloring sheet to help children celebrate the doctors in their life.

Fun Doctors’ Day facts

Here are some fun facts to help you celebrate the doctors in your life.

  • Doctors’ Day was started on March 30, 1933, by Eudora Almond, the wife of a physician who believed her husband and all doctors deserved more recognition than they received.
  • Red carnations are popularly used to say thank you to doctors on Doctors’ Day.
  • Doctors’ Day is always celebrated March 30, commemorating the first time that anesthesia was used in surgery.
  • You can even buy Doctors’ Day cards.
  • There are over 700,000 practicing doctors in the United States.
  • LVHN proudly employs over 2,000 doctors throughout the region.
