LVHN Among Becker’s Best Places to Work in Health Care

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is being recognized by Becker’s Healthcare on its 2022 list of “150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare.” LVHN is among seven hospitals, health systems and health care companies in Pennsylvania – and the only one in the region – to be recognized for promoting diversity within the workforce, employee engagement and professional growth.

Cultivating our culture by focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion

LVHN is committed to sustaining an inclusive environment where everyone’s identities are respected, and all colleagues feel valued and part of the LVHN community. LVHN is proud to be recognized as a national leader on the LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Index (HEI), which evaluates organizations on their commitment to inclusion and equity of LGBTQ patients, visitors and colleagues.

To improve and sustain inclusion and equity for all colleagues, LVHN formed its Actions Against Racism and Advancing Equity (AARAE) Council in September 2020. The recommendations and ongoing work of this group help make LVHN a great place to work – and a great place for care – for all.

Did you know?

LVHN is the region’s largest employer with nearly 20,000 colleagues.

This year, we introduced a newly expanded network-wide women’s professional group: Women in Leadership and Learning, acknowledging all women as leaders navigating a wide range of personal and professional roles over a lifetime.

Supporting colleagues with wellness offerings and comprehensive benefits

Colleagues are LVHN’s most important asset. LVHN’s Total Rewards package includes exceptional perks and benefits that recognize the contributions made by the health network’s nearly 20,000 health care professionals.

LVHN offers comprehensive health and wellness programs that allow colleagues to thrive, including My Total Health, which supports physical, emotional, financial and social wellness.

Counseling and stress reduction programs are also offered by LVHN. Preferred EAP provides confidential counseling, coaching and consultation to colleagues and their families for personal or work-related problems at no cost to the colleague.

LVHN introduced a first-of-its-kind program in fall 2020 to help colleagues reduce stress and anxiety in a unique way. The Pet Adoption Assistance Program offers LVHN colleagues up to $250 toward the cost of a recent or upcoming qualifying rescue pet adoption.

Encouraging colleagues to grow from hire to retire

LVHN’s comprehensive professional development resources allow colleagues to cultivate existing skills or learn new ones. This encourages growth within an existing career path and allows colleagues to pursue a new path at LVHN if desired.

LVHN offers academic advising and generous tuition reimbursement. Colleagues receive 100% tuition reimbursement up to an annual undergraduate or graduate program maximum. The cost of textbooks and fees charged to all students, including graduation fees, also are eligible for reimbursement.

Professional development and certificate programs give colleagues an opportunity to expand their skill set while gaining confidence in the work they do. Some of the offerings include education in diversity, equity and inclusion, responsive leadership, management and customer service.

This recognition by Becker’s Healthcare is the latest in a growing list of national top-workplace designations for LVHN.

LVHN continually works to provide resources that foster a strong, engaged and compassionate workforce.
