Hey dad-to-be – are you ready for your baby to arrive? If not, it’s OK. No one is ever truly ready for the life-changing event of welcoming a little one into your world (and your heart). But that doesn’t mean you can’t be more prepared for his or her arrival. That’s where we can help.

Lehigh Valley Health Network proudly offers Boot Camp for New Dads® (aka Daddy Boot Camp®) – a unique, father-to-father workshop, in a supportive environment, that helps first-time expectant fathers get ready for the challenges ahead. Fathers-to-be who attend the workshop leave feeling more confident and prepared for the exciting journey ahead, armed with inspiration, knowledge and skills focused on their role as the father, caregiver and supporter of both mom and baby.

The tactical skills you’ll learn

  • Your role (as dad) at the hospital
  • Holding, burping, changing and swaddling your baby
  • Soothing a crying baby
  • Bonding with your baby and forming a new family
  • How you can support mom – physically, emotionally and in other ways
  • Breastfeeding basics
  • Managing stress, work-life balance and emotions

Boot Camp basics

  • Hour 1: Candid talk with veteran dads
  • Hour 2: Hands-on practice with real babies
  • Hour 3: Additional discussion and interactive Q&A
