Lehigh Valley Health Network is taking additional steps to keep patients and colleagues safe as the COVID-19 pandemic and its now dominant omicron variant continue to increase hospitalizations.

Visitation rules now stipulate only one person is allowed at the patient bedside at a time, though patients may designate up to two visitors for their entire hospital stay. Visitation hours remain
9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-8 p.m.

Visitors who have a possible COVID infection, or who have tested positive for COVID, should not come into an LVHN facility unless they are seeking care for a severe illness or life-threatening condition. In addition, those recently exposed to COVID-19 (within the past 5 days) also should avoid visitation.

As a reminder, one visitor is also the limit for an adult emergency room patient, and that visitor must follow the same guidelines for masking and eating as the inpatient visitation rules. Masks should be worn at all times, and eating and drinking should be limited to café areas.
