New location for Pediatric Rehabilitation Services in Hazleton

From the calming color scheme to the “muck room” for messy, sensory activities that helps make treatment fun, this 2,640-square-foot facility was designed with children in mind. The gym is outfitted with all the specialized equipment needed to help infants to young adults work toward greater functionality, mobility and independence.

“We see a lot of children with autism and ADHD, and we wanted to ensure our facility specifically meets neurodivergent needs as well,” says Catherine Avillion, Director of Outpatient Rehabilitation at Lehigh Valley Health Network. “Children need therapists who understand their individual needs and how to support them and their caregivers in integrating treatment strategies in their daily routine at home.”

The center’s multidisciplinary team includes board-certified therapists who specialize in treating a wide range of conditions in pediatrics, including orthopedic and sports injuries, feeding problems, language disorders, sensorimotor difficulties and developmental delays. Services include pediatric physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology services.

Pediatric rehabilitation services are part of Lehigh Valley Reilly Children's Hospital and offer a comprehensive team approach to help your child optimize their functional skills. Physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech- language pathologists focus on:

“We’ve seen tremendous growth in the need for outpatient pediatric rehabilitation services in this area and having a destination facility in downtown Hazleton will increase access for patients and their families,” Avillion says.
