In 10 years, Tina Moyer has risen from Patient Service Representative to Practice Manager at LVPG Urology.

Why has working at Lehigh Valley Physician Group (LVPG) Urology been so enjoyable for Tina Moyer? It’s easy for her to explain.

“The people I’ve worked with here over the years have always felt like family to me,” says the 44-year-old practice manager who has worked at LVPG Urology for the last decade. “I see all of Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) as family. In fact, my daughter, Michaella, is at King’s College (in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) studying to become a physician assistant. Her goal is to work at LVHN, too.”

But Mom’s entry into the health care industry began pretty much by accident.

“She had a natural empathy with patients,” says Nicholas Kirch, program director for LVPG Urology. “She’s so good at putting people at ease, whether it’s the patients or her colleagues.”

“I was 18 and looking for a job when a doctor at what was then Sacred Heart Hospital suggested a part-time position archiving paper patient charts there,” Moyer says. “That led to a medical records technician and patient service representative (PSR) jobs at Lehigh Valley Home Care and Hospice. I’ve always been very organized. I enjoy keeping records, scheduling, and working with patients and vendors. It’s a lot of fun for me.”

“I love my job and the people I work with. I really hope I can stay at LVHN until the day I retire.”

In 2012, Moyer joined LVPG Urology as a PSR and quickly found her work family.

“She had a natural empathy with patients,” says Nicholas Kirch, program director for LVPG Urology. “She’s so good at putting people at ease, whether it’s the patients or her colleagues.”

Her innate talents have helped her ascension at LVPG Urology. She rose to scheduling coordinator in 2014, office coordinator in 2015, site manager in 2018 and practice manager in 2021. Along the way, she earned her associate’s degree in Northampton Community College’s office coordinator program, and is currently working toward her bachelor’s degree in health care administration at the American College of Education.

She does all this while managing her family at home – husband Michael, daughter Michaella and son Michael Jr.

“Tina is tremendously dedicated and self-motivated,” Kirch says. “You ask Tina to do something, you know it will be taken care of. As she’s moved up in her career, she’s been able to motivate others to be the same way.”

Moyer started out at what was essentially an entry-level position at LVPG Urology. Today, her job includes 25 reports across multiple sites. But she certainly doesn’t see herself as unique among her colleagues.

“We have a network where there are so many opportunities,” Moyer says. “We have a great benefits package to help families and tuition reimbursement to help people advance. In my case, I love my job and the people I work with. I really hope I can stay at LVHN until the day I retire.”
