Hi, my name is Angie Zawisza, and I am a pediatric hospitalist and vice chair, department of pediatrics, at Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Schuylkill.

I grew up in a small town outside of St. Louis, Missouri. After completing my undergraduate degree in Illinois, I headed to Iowa for medical school. I spent two years in Ohio for my clinical rotations, so coming to Pennsylvania for residency seemed like a natural step. I completed my residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where I met my husband. After a year as chief resident, I came to what is now LVH–Schuylkill and started the pediatric hospitalist program. We have been going strong for more than 10 years now.

I have a passion for hospital medicine and am proud to be able to provide care locally for our families and their children, rather than having them travel an hour or more for the same services. I love teaching and am excited to be one of the faculty members for the Lehigh Valley Health Network Rural Family Medicine residency program.

We have four young boys, so if I am not at the hospital, I am usually found driving one of them to an activity or making sure they don't injure themselves in our own backyard. I also serve on the board of trustees for the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association. My husband was raised here in Schuylkill County and now practices outpatient med/peds with his father and sister. I love living in a small community. Whether I'm walking along the Schuylkill River Trail, eating ice cream at Heisler's with my family or taking care of a sick child, I have found Schuylkill County to be a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family.
