Hello! I’m Dr. Christina Black, and I had have the privilege of serving as the OB-GYN residency program director here at Lehigh Valley Health Network. I grew up in Chambersburg, Pa., completed my undergraduate and medical school training at Penn State University, and then completed my OB-GYN residency at Georgetown University. In 2008, I chose to settle in the Lehigh Valley, a decision I’ve never regretted. I love this community, our faculty and most of all, our residency. Clinically, I’m a generalist with Lehigh Valley Physician Group Obstetrics and Gynecology and practice at the Center for Women’s Medicine, part of Valley Health Partners. My time is divided between labor and delivery, and ambulatory care. I love the diversity of care that our clinic provides our community and am passionate about our high-risk obstetrical and menopause clinic. What first drew me to this field, and still inspires me today, is the privilege of connecting with women at some of the most profound and unforgettable moments of their lives, whether in great joy or in times of loss. Obstetrics still gives me that adrenaline rush, but it is the teamwork and the deep human connections in women’s health that keep me grounded and grateful. Education has always been central to my career. Before becoming residency program director, I was the SELECT University of South Florida Health Morsani College of Medicine fourth-year program director and then later, the the third-year medical student clerkship director here at LVHN. Teaching, for me, has always been about more than sharing knowledge – it’s about sharing how to truly connect, listen and partner with patients. I was ecstatic to become the residency program director in 2020. My vision was to create a supportive learning environment and ensure education was present in every facet of their experience. Our program continues to evolve to help residents become not only skilled physicians, but also compassionate leaders dedicated to advancing women’s health care. To be present as their advocate throughout the journey – from intern orientation to graduation and knowing the countless lives they will touch – is more rewarding than I ever could have imagined.

Outside of work, you’ll often find me with my husband, our two teenagers and our dog, enjoying life in the beautiful Pennsylvania hills we call home. I love planning our next travel adventure, cooking and gathering with family and friends. I am deeply grateful for both my home family and my work family, who make this journey possible.

Everyone always asks, what is the best thing about our program? The best thing about our residency is the people. Our residents and team inspire me every day with their dedication, teamwork and heart. It is a joy and an honor to walk alongside them during this transformative chapter of their lives.
