Emily Kaempf
Physical Therapist
Hello, my name is Emily Kaempf, and I am a physical therapist on the neurorehabilitation floor of Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest Inpatient Rehab. I completed my education through the 3+3 program at Temple University, with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and a doctorate in physical therapy. I began my career with St. Luke’s University Health Network in the outpatient setting, providing care for orthopedic conditions. I then transitioned to a mix of orthopedics and neuromuscular, obtaining a certification in Parkinson Wellness Recovery.
Next, I followed my passion for travel and adventure for the next year as a travel physical therapist, working in cities such as Boston, San Diego and Seattle. After working with chronic neurological conditions such as stroke in underserved populations, I decided to transition to inpatient rehabilitation to work with more-acute neurological diagnoses. I have since obtained my Level II Certification for the EKSO Bionics robotic-walking device and Certified Stroke Rehab Specialist certification and became a Certified Brain Injury Specialist. I have a special passion for working on neuromuscular re-education, gait and balance training to achieve a higher quality and more independent level of living for the people I work with. Creativity to individualize interventions is the basis for my rehabilitative approach.
In my free time, I pursue my great love of the outdoors by rock climbing, whitewater rafting/kayaking and hiking with my energetic golden retriever mix.
