Dr. Al-Alim completed his undergrad at Carleton University, where he received a degree in biochemistry in 2003. He completed his medical training at Ross University School of Medicine, graduating in 2008. He completed both his family medicine residency training (in 2013) and sports medicine fellowship at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, Pa. Dr. Al-Alim has always had a passion for medicine and enjoys the opportunity to have relationships with his patients within the community. He finds medicine to be both rewarding and challenging, as every day is different and every individual has specific needs. Through medicine, he can help heal the body and the mind not only with medication but with education and awareness. He entered medicine to know, at the end of the day, that he has hopefully made a difference in someone’s life and well-being. He chose sports medicine as a specialty because he understands the importance of fitness in a person’s overall health. He feels he can relate to active individuals because he was a college athlete and maintains his health through exercise. Since almost 90% of sports injuries do not require surgical intervention, he wanted to have a career that would allow him to give his patients a variety of treatment options. Dr. Al-Alim’s personal interests include spending time with his family and playing outside with his kids. He makes exercise a priority through weight training and soccer leagues. He enjoys traveling and learning different cultures.
