Warren Behr is the Director of the LVHN Patient Blood Management and Bloodless Surgery program. Since 2019, he has worked with key champions at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) to develop and implement patient blood management strategies and reduce avoidable blood transfusions. Beginning in 2020, he led a team to open the first bloodless medicine and surgery program in the Lehigh Valley. Behr is responsible for implementing the health network’s goals for transfusion medicine and works with clinicians and support staff to ensure that patients are exposed to as few risks as possible. At the same time, he ensures that patients who prefer their care without the use of blood products have a compassionate and skilled health network to care for them. 

Since 2000, Behr has been leading the way to a more responsible use of blood products and working as an educator and advocate in the field of bloodless medicine and surgery. Serving at multi-hospital systems in Florida and Michigan, he successfully developed and managed programs that provided high-quality medical care while avoiding donated blood products. He has a passion for patient advocacy and proper utilization of limited resources within the health care setting and continues to be heavily involved in patient education and the day-to-day management of LVHN’s patient blood management and bloodless surgery program.

Behr is a graduate of University of Central Florida where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration and continued to obtain his Master of Business Administration at Michigan State University. He is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality from the National Association for Healthcare Quality and maintains professional affiliations including membership in the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Society for the Advancement of Patient Blood Management and the Network for the Advancement of Patient Blood Management, Haemostasis and Thrombosis.
