School of Nursing receives additional federal funding

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) is authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Public Law 116-260, signed into law on Dec. 27, 2020.  As a result of the additional federal funding, the US Department of Education awarded the Joseph F. McCloskey School of Nursing $107,659 on January 14, 2021.  Per requirements, $41,125 will be distributed in the form of direct aid to students, with $66,534 allocated as the institutional portion of the funding.

As of 4/2/2021, the School of Nursing provided awards to 57 students who are Title IV eligible. The awards were prioritized according to students with exceptional need, such as students who receive Pell Grants. Awards were distributed as follows:

  • 26 Pell Grant recipients received $850.00
  • 30 non-Pell Grant recipients received $630.00
  • 1 part-time student received $125.00

This program is supported entirely by federal funds.
