About

Philosophy of care

My philosophy of care is centralized around the concept of holistic care. To completely care for a patient, I believe that a provider must account for not only the body, but also the mind and spirit. Your  wellness can best be achieved when these interconnected pieces are managed to the best of my ability. In addition to this, I believe in shared-decision making. I want my you to feel in control of your health care, and it is my goal to educate you and to help facilitate your decisions.

Why I entered medicine

I chose health care at a very young age. Initially my desire was to enter into medicine however, after looking at my career options and my desires as a health care provider, I chose nursing. I loved the versatility and flexibility that I would have within my career. I also fell in love with the holistic approach that nursing provides. I spent the first nine years of my career in emergency and critical care nursing. Not only did I want to learn more, but I had gained awareness for health promotion, prevention and education that many patients lack. I went back to school in 2015 to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Furthering my education would allow me to address my patients’ needs prior to developing the many diseases that could lead to the serious illnesses I have cared for during my career.

Community involvement

I graduated from Cedar Crest College in 2010. Since then, I have returned yearly to participate in a poverty simulation conducted by the Community Nursing team. I take great pride in sharing my own past experiences and educating students and the community about the struggles that living in poverty entails. I also like to provide hope to those that struggle and feel like they will never escape from a place that not everyone can understand. My goal is to change how poverty is viewed, educate on available resources, and empower those who live impoverished.

Personal interests

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids. I have both a son and daughter who keep me very busy. They are both school-aged and have the energy of an army. One of my own personal interests is music. I absolutely love every aspect of music. I find it to be a great outlet for stress and healing.
