Philosophy of care
Being a physician is a blessing; not everyone who desires to go into medicine makes it. You sacrifice years learning and training, knowing that one day others will entrust you with their health and lives. I have been fortunate with my own health and career, so I do all I can to help others. There’s no higher honor. I believe in equitable health care, which is why I practice emergency medicine. The ER is the great equalizer, where we treat each patient with the same dignity and respect.
Why I entered medicine
I have always been in near perfect health, and found it unjust over the years to watch my mother and others battle and succumb to serious and life-threatening conditions. I was majoring in English when Mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and her follow-up visit changed my career path. She had gotten great news from her gynecological oncologist that day. They both smiled, embraced and Mom left feeling so happy and relieved. I realized the sole purpose of that woman's profession is fighting to save lives, and her training, expertise, demeanor and delivery make all the difference. What a way to give back to this world!
Community involvement
I spend a lot of my free time as an animal advocate, volunteering at shelters and donating to organizations aligned with animal welfare.
Personal interests
I love time with my girlfriend and our two pups. We also love time with our families. When not running around an Emergency Department, I am usually on a beach. I also pretend to be a connoisseur of espresso martinis and cannot resist a seafood boil. I love everything in the True Crime genre.
