About

Philosophy of care

I believe in a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach in the intensive care unit. Such care not only requires addressing the patient's physical ailment, but also and emotional needs of the patient and family.

Why I entered medicine

I enjoy the need for intellectual curiosity and rigor in medicine. But most importantly, what clinicians do to transform knowledge into action really helps our patients. I've studied and performed music all my life, and I find medicine to be a unique union of science and art. I find this unique feature of medicine most satisfying.

Community involvement

I have been training physicians in Ethiopia since 2013 as part of a pulmonary critical care medicine fellowship program at Addis Ababa University School of Medicine. I also give piano recitals to raise money for the program to purchase medical equipment.

Personal interests

I am a classically trained pianist who also enjoys jazz. I am also a flamenco enthusiast, an avid tennis player and a world traveler, specializing in travel and portrait photography. Lastly, I like cooking.
