Philosophy of care

I believe each patient deserves to be treated as a VIP and with the highest standard of care. Patients should be seen, heard and shown kindness. Cultural, ethnic and lifestyle differences should be recognized and celebrated. As an advanced practice clinician, I believe a multidisciplinary team approach to each patient's unique case yields optimal outcomes, patient satisfaction and understanding. The blend of viewpoints, experiences and ideas boosts empathy, patient/family comprehension and treatment of the person as a whole and not just a medical issue.

Why I entered medicine

I have wanted to be in medicine since childhood. I have always had an intense love for science and, more importantly, an innate sense to help people in need, especially during the scariest moments of their lives. Working as an EMS provider before physician assistant school really solidified my desire to work professionally in medicine. Meeting people from all backgrounds also is a major draw for me; I am always looking to understand each person's story. I love learning and a challenge, and medicine certainly is much more expansive than textbooks; I learn something new every day. After 10 years, I feel medicine has shaped me to be a better, more empathetic person – I would choose to enter the field of medicine all over again.

Community involvement

I participate in Breast Cancer Awareness walks for and with my mom, a survivor. I have participated in the AHA Heart Walk in support of patients and family members with cardiac conditions. I also attend Joe Beretta Foundation charity events in support of patients and families affected by advanced heart failure. Beyond that my husband and I are new to the community and looking for recommendations!

Personal interests

My personal interests include drawing/painting, hiking, camping, kayaking, boating, swimming, yoga, rowing, stationary biking (yes, I'm a Peloton person!), reading, podcast/audiobook listening, traveling, and spending as much time with family and friends as I can. One more fun fact: I am just starting my journey of becoming a plant mom. Wish my plants luck!
