About

Philosophy of care

My philosophy of care involves making the best decisions for you. Health care providers devote years to education, training and medical practice to make sure we do right by our patients. Results may differ because no two situations are the same, but the choices are made in the best interest of each patient.

Why I entered medicine

Before nursing I served as an EMT/firefighter. The adrenaline rush and feeling of "What's next?" kept me wanting more. After nursing school I first became a high-risk obstetrical nurse, and now a critical care nurse practitioner, so the excitement is still there. I take my job very seriously and strive to make a positive impact on the patient and their family whether dealing with an acute illness or end-of-life care.

Community involvement

I volunteer to teach the community about healthy living, including blood pressure monitoring, glucose control, stroke prevention and cardiac health. I am a huge supporter of the American Heart Association because of a strong family history of heart disease.

Personal interests

Family is everything to me. I love to spend time with my husband, two sons and boxer. We enjoy the outdoors, four-wheeling, boating and camping. I enjoy spending time with my parents as well. I am a huge sports fan of all Pittsburgh teams, plus the Atlanta Braves. I am also a diehard Penn State Nittany Lions fan!
