SummaryThe Treatment Coordinator position is a patient facing role that includes direct interaction with patients, families and care coordination through professional providers within LVHN. This role supports patients dealing with challenging circumstances while displaying dedication, enthusiasm, commitment and confidentiality. Daily activities will include coordinating insurance authorization, denials and appeals. This will include articulating clinical information required to obtain accurate authorization based on radiation therapy specific codes, understanding the nuances of specific cases and managing coordination of treatment.
Job Duties
- Insurance Authorization, Denials, Appeals. Handles referrals and associated patient insurance information. Insurance record audits. Provides and generates self-pay estimates.
- Schedules and coordinates patient appointments for assigned provider including MDC, Sir Infusion and Gamma Knife. Prepares patient medical record for patient consultation, treatment, and follow up. Obtains images from PACS, cloud, outside facilities. Maintains incoming mail and faxes for chart preparation. Completes FMLA paperwork and general notes. Handles patient portal messages.
- Performs Administrative Partner responsibilities for continued coverage of unit. Covers additional sites when needed.
Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma/GED
- 3 years medical secretarial experience
- Knowledge of insurance authorization process
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology. Must have professional discretion with information; excellent communication skills, detail oriented, ability to manage multiple providers, ability to resolve needs for complex treatment situations, ability to work well under stress and with minimal supervision. Must possess ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical DemandsLift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
